layering stigmas

preface
a young girl explained how her tattoo was effective in warding off the evil eye but at face value i failed to interpret her concern.

if being acquainted with skin was a challenge then at some point i’d decided tattoos would introduce me first to myself.
re-introduce. re-aquaint. re-accept.

it meant a need to be revealing –
physically. mentally. spiritually.

it meant the unspoken within had need to be illustrated without –
lines. borders. perceptions.

so when i heard about the evil eye
i couldn’t see
