2021-01-24, allegiance

how much passion is required to carry an imaginary trophy
— to the genius of a distancing star

how vague must we paint the characters to match
— the dizzying elegance of a suffocating twilight

crimson and swarming with trembling boldness
— this ephemeral sanctuary within myself

a feeling of absolute nothingness delights itself
— in applying tortuous pressure to sacrificial tradition

it’s always tradition that beguiles the strong and preys upon the weak. to what and whom have we pledged allegiance when there is no flag?
